From Sally’s Hideaway (cabaret for trans sex workers), to Show World (peep show by 42nd Street – in Pose-FX), to cruising on 14th Street, sex work has had a unique place in NYC ball culture. Baloue shares stories from his oral histories with femqueen icons, like Onjenae Milan, and others.

Participant Bios: 

Sydney Baloue (he/him/gurl!) is a writer, producer, director, dancer, archivist and journalist. He was Co-Executive Producer on HBO Max’s Legendary, first Black trans man in the Writers Guild of America, and author of forthcoming memoir/history, Undeniable: A History of Voguing, Ballroom And How It Changed My Life And The World.
