Visible and Vibrant is a docent-led tour series celebrating LGBTQ+ artists in LACMA’s collection. Open to all ages, the tours explore how identity shapes art, inviting reflection, conversation, and discovery. Join us for a dynamic look at creativity, community, and the stories behind the art.
Tours are available every Friday in October. The dates are October 3, October 10, October 17, October 24, and October 31. Tours are free with museum admission. Good to know: Admission is free for L.A. County residents after 3 PM.
Participant Bios:
Holly M.
Holly M. (They/Them) is an artist and educator dedicated to reimagining museums as spaces for healing, connection, and creative exploration. Since joining LACMA in December 2021 as Director of Adult Public Programs, Holly M. has led diverse initiatives, including collaborations with notable artists and performances addressing historical issues. Previously, they directed education at ESMoA, developing inclusive programs for K-12 students, families, and individuals with developmental disabilities. Holly M. is also the founder of The Nomadic Werewolf Museum and has a background in Community Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. They enjoy podcasts, hiking, and spending time with their pets.
Gabriela Martinez, Director of Gallery Learning
With over 20 years of experience in Art Education, Gabriela Martinez has specialized in museum education, focusing on standardizing interpretive strategies, implementing participatory gallery opportunities, and incorporating remote and digital programming. She has mentored numerous emerging museum professionals and artists from diverse backgrounds. As a curator, she has concentrated on community-centered projects and exhibitions that emphasize collaboration, fostering meaningful connections between art and the public. Her work reflects a dedication to inclusivity and creative engagement within the museum field.
Emily Craig, Manager, Docents & Tours, Gallery Learning
Radio-Film from Syracuse University, and an M.A. in Museology from the University of Washington with a focus on museum education and museum evaluation. Before attending graduate school, she worked in the entertainment industry for four years and volunteered at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, an experience that helped her realize that museums were great places to tell stories! After graduate school, Emily worked at the Institute for Learning Innovation and Randi Korn & Associates, Inc, as an evaluation consultant for four years. She joined the LACMA Education & Public Programs department as the Docent Council Coordinator in 2015, and is currently Manager of Docents & Tours. Emily oversees all of the museum’s docents, in addition to developing tour content, overseeing docent training, and facilitating logistical planning for on-site public and school tours. Outside of the museum, Emily is (overly) involved with the Junior League of Los Angeles, serving as part of their Senior Leadership team.
